Has anyone noticed that Lenovo is now selling a bunch of T43p models with XGA displays and integrated graphics? It looks like the DVD-RW drives are now 8x, but I didn't notice any other differences in the specs.
If anyone out there has one of these new T models please post your experience with the fan noise. Both of the 15" T43's I tried were extremely loud...

You sure it is T43p? I thought all p series comes with Fire GL graphic cards? Any links?
I got a T43p that has a very acceptable noise level. Normally I don't hear the sound of the fan. Only occasionally it may turn on for a few sec, or when I am running something intensive.
My external hdd casing fan is much louder that it.

In regards to the DVDRW, yes they have upgraded to an 8x burner. The DVDRW in our test model R52 had an 8x and if you check the accessories section of Lenovo's website, they have two for sale: the old 2.4x DVDRW (which is "on sale" to get rid of it) and the new 8x model.
I haven't used a 15" T43, but there's a possibility we will have one in the labs soon....:)

Doltan - I just visited thinkpad.com and all of the T43p models I saw previously have been removed, so I assume it was a typographical mistake.
Tim - thanks for the info on the DVDRW drives. does matsu****a make the drive on the R52 you are testing?

Ya, there were quite a lot of mistakes posted on the website. One of them could claim to be the lightest laptop in the world ( the technical specs listed a weight of 0.01lbs at the time :D )

Oops, time to tune the sensitivity of the filter ;)
